Luthando Zibeko Foundation in partnership with Hollywoodbets, and betting company's ambassador, Velile Mnyandu handed over food parcels in villages, Tholeni, Butterworth and Mkwinti, Tsomo respectively on Thursday, 18 June 2020.

Food insecurity is a reality for many South African households, with approximately 50% of households living below poverty line.

The spread of Covid 19 globally, and in South Africa has caused a further pressure on vulnerable households facing temporary or permanent interruptions.

Executive Chairman, Luthando Zibeko speaking during handover in Tholeni Village, where Velile was born, expressed words of gratitude to both Hollywoodbets and seasoned broadcaster, Velile Mnyandu.

"I would to thank Hollywoodbets for confidence in our work and off course, my long-time friend Velile and the Mnyandu Family for choosing to work with us on this initiative. It is important to make this contribution not only in our areas of work but also where we were born and bred. It was touching to see how for instance Velile was received here by the community of Tholeni.

"It was here where his career as a broadcaster started as a 15-year-old and today, he is one of the most respected broadcasters in the continent.

"I am delighted to be celebrating my birthday today and for me there was no better way to celebrate than doing what is close to my heart, giving back to our villages. Our province as one of the poorest provinces in South Africa has been hit hard by Covid-19 and we hope with the little contribution, it will go a long way in giving hope to a few households.

"This work would not be possible without the support of the Board, our hardworking Operations Team and our partners, thank you," added Zibeko.

The handover was attended notable by Foundation's Honorary President, Mr Sicelo Zibeko and board member, Luxolo Zibeko, the Zibeko Family and the Mnyandu and Mbuli families.

Director of Programmes
The Bereaved Family, Relatives and Friends,
Leaders,
Representatives of all Structures on this platform and beyond,

I am honoured to pay tribute to the memory of a friend, a comrade and my housemate, Mzwandile Mawela.

I have known "Mawawa", as he was affectionately known, for more than two decades. He was a fierce competitor during debates, a passionate developmental activist, lover of fine things, a patriotic ruralitarian and igqirha.

The outpouring of tributes and today being his second virtual Memorial Services is demonstration of the impact Cde Mawela made to thousands around South Africa and the continent. His commitment and dedication towards the creation of a better South Africa puts him in an esteemed league, as a true combatant for equality, justice and eradication of poverty.

Amongst his many assignments, the deceased was part of a South African delegation that was deployed on an Observer Mission in Zimbabwe during that country's National Elections in 2008. He carried the task with pride and honour. His company revered his attention to detail and his simple, yet business-like demeanour in executing the task at that continental level.

May I therefore extend my deepest condolences to the family, friends, and Intsika Yethu Municipality and in particular, to the community of Cofimvaba where Cde Mawela was born and bred.

May I also draw closest to his dearest partner, Papama Mawela, and the boys. "Iwile imbewu kaMawela".

The family that is aggrieved by the passing of this great horse and for that, may I join thousands that are touched by this misfortune.

As for Cde Mawela, may he be well received and stand before the counsel of Heavenly Angels as one who lived for others and served to fulfil his anointing as a soldier of social transformation in South Africa.

Like the peaceful problem solver he was, I hope that we milk extensively from the wealth of knowledge he shared with us so that we create out of the current generation, a group of human resource that could carry his spirit forward.

I therefore pray that we find strength to be healed by Comrade Mawela's colossal demeanour and his humble yet effective manner of pursuing and achieving his life's purpose.

May we be strong and rest in the understanding of GOD's ability to wipe our sorrows and restore our hopes.

May his spirit live forever.

Luthando Zibeko (Mr.)

"What lies behind us and what lies before us are small matters compared to what lies within us,"Emerson.

1st May marked an important day on the South African calendar, namely Workers Day. I cannot help but feel a sense of gratitude to all the front-line workers who have heeded the call and continue to assist the nation and the world during these uncertain times of Covid-19.

They have displayed immense courage and bravery, beard the pandemic with grace, served continuously with open hearts – making the best of the circumstances. Their efforts have and are still critical to keeping society functioning, making sure that everyone of us is safe, healthy, and has access to all the resources we need.

Morgan Harper articulates the courage of these man and women best in his quote, "Bravery is the audacity to the unhindered by the failures and to walk with freedom, strength, and hope in the face of things unknown,"

I would like to acknowledge and take my hat off to; nurses, health care technicians, truck drivers, grocery store workers, teachers, college, and university professors and other staff, providing online learning for students, electrical workers, and all other public employees for working hard on our behalf.

Siyabonga,

Enkosi,

Baie dankie,

Re a leboga for sacrificing your own safety and wellbeing in this crisis, we are eternally grateful. Your contributions are appreciated, and we thank you in our prayers, hearts, and minds each and every day.

PRESS RELEASE FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
16 July 2019

It is with immense sadness that we confirm that Jonathan (Johnny) Clegg, OBE OIS succumbed to pancreatic cancer at the age of 66 on the afternoon of 16 July 2019 at his family home in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Johnny leaves deep foot prints in the hearts of every person that considers him/herself to be an African. He showed us what it was to assimilate to and embrace other cultures without losing your identity. An anthropologist that used his music to speak to every person. With his unique style of music he traversed cultural barriers like few others. In many of us he awakened awareness.

Johnny was born on 7 June 1953 in Bacup, Lancashire England and moved to Johannesburg, South Africa with his Rhodesian mother when he was 6 years old. His exposure to Zulu migrant workers during adolescence introduced him to the culture and music. His involvement with black musicians often saw him arrested during Apartheid.

At the age of 17, together with Sipho Mchunu they formed their first band called Juluka. At the age of 33 in 1986 during the height of Apartheid he partnered with Dudu Zulu to form his second inter-racial band called Savuka. Clegg also recorded several solo albums and enjoyed international success selling out concerts wherever he performed.

Apart from lecturing at the Universities of the Witwatersrand and Natal respectively, Johnny studied anthropology and combined his studies with music.

He was awarded by a number of local and international bodies for his contribution to music and society notably by the French Government in 1991 with a Knight of Arts and Letters, and in 2015 he was made an Officer of the Order of the British Empire. In 2012 he received the Order of Ikhamanga from the South African government. He was awarded a number of Honorary doctorates by the Universities of the Witwatersrand (South Africa), KwaZulu-Natal (South Africa), Dartmouth College in the USA and the City University of New York.

He authored and published the book "UkuBuyisa Isidumbu" (1981, Ravan Press), and presented papers on "The Music of Zulu Immigrant Workers in Johannesburg" in 1981 at the Grahamstown International Library of African Music and "Towards an understanding of African Dance: The Zulu Isishameni Style" in 1982 at Rhodes University.

Johnny was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 2015 but despite fighting cancer continued to tour and perform around the world to pay homage to his fans worldwide.

Johnny is survived by his wife of 31 years, Jenny and their two sons Jesse and Jaron.

His passing has left us numb and we request that the family's privacy be respected during this trying time.

The family will be holding a Private funeral service and we ask you to please respect the families wishes.

There will be a service for public to pay their respects and the details hereof will be announced in due course.

"Phil 'Chippa' Masinga should be be remembered as someone that left an indelible mark in South African Football", said Executive Chairman of Luthando Zibeko Foundation, Luthando Zibeko on Sunday, 13 January 2019 following the tragic news of passing of footballing icon.

The Klegsdorp sdorp born striker, 49, succumbed to day early hours of the morning on Sunday.

"Africa has lost one of its football greatest sons, Chippa Masinga. It's a tragedy," said Zibeko.

"Chippa as a striker was fearless. He had power, good footwork despite his height and very good in the air.

"His exploits at Jomo Cosmos and Mamelodi Sundowns landed him a contract at Leeds United in England.

"It's a huge loss to football not only in South Africa but in the continent.

"These days, Legend is thrown to every former player to have played the game, but Phil Masinga earned his legendary status and today we have lost a true legend of the game.

Chippa Masinga will be fondly remembered for his time at Jomo Cosmos where he cut his teeth. "I remember back in 1989 when together with Eric September tormented Orlando Pirates defense. Pirates had no answers for Chippa and company losing by 6 to 1.

"Chippa Masinga wrote his name in the history books of South African Football, banging a hattrick but ending up on a losing side against Kaizer Chiefs in the BP Top 8 Final at FNB Stadium in 1991.

"On that afternoon, Chippa showed his quality. It was not a surprise that Mamelodi Sundowns came calling and later some of the big names in Europe.

Zibeko continued," I met Chippa Masinga when I moved to Joburg in 2004.

"It was such a big deal for me to meet Chippa and I reminded him on how he tormented my team.

"Together with my then colleague at Kickoff Magazine in 2006, we were doing a feature on the legendary, Jomo Sono and we we spoke to the likes of Chippa, Pitso Mosimane, the late Tommy Madigage, etc.

"Couple of years ago, I was in Bloemfontein and bumped to Chippa. "He asked me to join him in Cubana for dinner and drinks, of course, I said, yes. I was very excited.

"The bouncers at Cubana turned Chippa away though, because he was not wearing" "proper" shoes. He had sneakers on. I couldn't believe it!

"The bouncers, clearly, had no clue who he was. Chippa just turned away quietly and walked to the car.

"Chippa stopped me when I tried to explain who he was. "It was such a disappointment for me but also I learned it's some quarters treat Legends like Chippa Masinga.

"We are a country that is too quick to forget our Legends.

What stood out for me that evening was his humility.

"Chippa showed respect to the security and never argued.

"A great player and truly, great person. Heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, his former clubs and football fraternity", concluded Zibeko.

Chippa Masinga represented Bafana Bafana 58 times scoring 18 goals.

Luthando recalled some moments he had with Mzi as he paid tribute to the SABC football guru.

Tribute To Mzi

I am heartbroken to learn about the passing of former SABC Sports journalist and analyst, Mzimasi Mgebisa.

I have known Mzi for close to two decades, "prolific" as a writer, as analyst-very sharp, sweet and cool outside work a top lad.

Mgebisa was a very knowledgeable fellow, a straight talker and one of few journalists that were really honest when behind the mark.

He was honest about his frustrations about football in this country but all because he cared about development of football.

He inspired me as a writer, back in 1999 I was having a chat with my cousin, Luvo Makhohliso; I told him I want to follow on Mzi's foot steps and have my name appear on Sunday Times.

I was inspired by the story Luvo told me about Mgebisa and how determined he was to become one of the best sports journalists in the country.

It was an honor to work with at Sabc 10 years ago...and I got to tell him about my childhood wish.

He laughed; "Hayi Chap,". I will miss his smile .

The industry has lost a giant in Mzi Mgebisa.

Luthando Zibeko Foundation sends heartfelt condolences to his family, friends and all those offered directly or in directly by his passing.

#RIPMziMgebisa

The 53-year-old charismatic trainer and promoter, who produced boxing champions such as Cassius Baloyi, Phillip Ndou and Thulani "Sugarboy" Malinga to mention a few, passed away on Friday in a motorbike accident near Clarens.

"South Africa's Sport Hall of Fame will not be finished without the presence of Nick. His contribution in the development of boxing is well documented and you can only see how Zolani "Lastborn" Tête and his Team paid tribute to the late following the victory on Saturday."

"On behalf of Luthando Zibeko Foundation I would like to send my sympathy to the family of Nick Durandt, his friends and Boxing South Africa. He might be gone but his contribution to boxing and sport in this country means that he will never be forgotten," the Foundation chairman Luthando Zibeko said.

Durandt who was last year honoured a lifetime achievement award at the South African Boxing awards produced in excess of 30 world champions and 95 South African champions.

Luthando Zibeko Foundation Executive Chairman has paid tribute to the late legends, struggle icon Ahmed Katrada, actor Joe Mafela and founder and Honorary President of Bloemfontein Celtic, Dr Petrus Molemela.

Ahmed Katrada

The country has lost a beacon of hope in struggle icon, Cde Katrada. His contribution to the struggle is not in doubt and it is encouraging that he continued making a contribution through his Foundation to the last day.

It was such a great pleasure to meet him in Bloemfontein back in 2011. Besides being kind enough to take a pic with me he still had few words nice words for me.

He might be gone but will forever be in our hearts. We send heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, his Foundation and his party, African National Congress.

Joe Mafela

We had fun growing up in the 80s and it was all because of the likes of Joe Mafela. South African Film industry is poorer without, S'dumo as we grew up calling him.

My long time friend, Nkosithandile Ngono was reminding me the other day how we use to mimic both Ray Ntlokwana and Joe Mafela.

In my village we had few TVs in the 80s and S'dumo was a source of entertainment. We did not have smart phones, play stations or junior laptops but we knew after dark we will be laughing our lungs out watching S'dumo.

It is really sad that on a year where he is celebrating 50 years in the film industry that he had to leave us. We send our condolences to all South Africans in particular his dear family.

Dr Petrus Molemela

As a 13-year-old growing up in Lady Frere I started my own football club, Ratanang and it was a move inspired by my father and of course Dr Molemela, Kaizer Motaung, the late Pine Chabeli, Dan Pasiya and others.

In my eyes, Dr Molemela is like a bridge that carries big trucks , buses and cars on a daily basis but never shaken.

History of South African football will never be finished without the mentioning of Dr Molemela. It is heartwarming that a stadium in Free State was named after his name recognizing the role he has played in the development of football in the Free State and beyond its borders.

Dr Molemela might be gone but he will never be forgotten!

Led by the chairman, the foundation donated sanitary pads for the young girls at the home.

"The idea of a Foundation is, has always been and will always be about building something that will out live me," said chairman Luthando Zibeko.

"Now, this can never be possible without the help of the Board and everyone working on this project, my Family and Friends of Luthando Zibeko Foundation ...last year October we made a promise to Leamogetswe Safety Home...and today we delivered."

The chairman paid special tribute to those who helped mobilize support to restore dignity to the girl child.

"Thank you to Khanyi Mbuli for spearheading this campaign and thank to my colleagues, for embracing it and giving necessary support . Most importantly we thank God for guiding our thoughts and giving us strength," said Zibeko.

Esteemed Members,

Employees, Friends of Luthando Zibeko Foundation,

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Not only does our Annual General Meeting afford us an opportunity to reflect on the work we started in June of 2008 and later as a Board in July of 2012, but it unapologetically gives us reason to celebrate and anticipate a future as we recommit to serve and make a difference in the lives of deserving others.

It is for that reason that I am truly humbled by the grace of The Almighty that has sustained us and thus feel supremely honoured to welcome all of you to this gathering.

I pray that we remain steadfastly unified to pursue our mission, our vision and a promise to positively impact communities and in particular those that we serve, the youth, including those in the periphery of our country.

With that I embrace fully the words of Franz Fanon who stated;

"Each generation must, out of relative obscurity, discover its mission,

fulfil it, or betray it".

This is our mission.

This is our challenge.

I believe, through this initiative, we have a realistic opportunity to create something that will outlive all of us!!!

I also believe that any deviation from or disregard of this noble cause will haunt our conscience as individuals and as a collective stitched by the Luthando Zibeko Foundation much to the betrayal of those that look up to us for hope and betterment of their unfortunate situations.

Colleagues and Members;  YOUTH

Today we assemble just a few days after the 40th Anniversary of June 16, 1976 students uprising.  The Youth Day as it is recorded is a day that honours the contribution and deaths of hundreds of Soweto children who rallied and changed the course of history in this country.

This day should be a perfect reminder of a youth that chose a mission and fulfilled it. The Class of 1976 was in the forefront of the struggle against apartheid. They faced bullets, abuse, and incarceration but never relented nor were they intimidated by a government that was determined to destroy the future of a black child.

Today we are enjoying the fruits of democracy as such we at Luthando Zibeko Foundation will honour their contribution by continuing to seek and find an innate desire to positively embrace their sacrifices by influencing those we reach out to through our programmes and activities.

We are mindful however, that the biggest challenge facing our nation today is youth that is not only unemployed but unemployable.   This is not only a problem for government but for everyone including business.  As such, NGO's, NPOs and CBOs need to find creative ways to support government initiatives aimed at making sure that the youth of this country are incorporated into the mainstream economy.

Against this background, may I therefore invite all within the Luthando Zibeko Foundation, to dig deeper into their mental reserves to find better ways of doing things, to carve new and fresh ideas that may truly sharpen our approach to respond progressively to such challenges and many others.

Challenges facing non-profit organisations

There is limited number of grants available to help non-profit organisations with their work and as such, the Luthando Zibeko Foundation is not immune. The coming years are sure to bring more challenges and we need to start thinking about innovative ways to keep the foundation afloat. May I thus challenge this AGM to make solid recommendations on how to approach the issue around funding.

On the same breath, may I caution that the success of the non-profit organisation is not only anchored by its ability to raise funds but on the impact and the relevance of its work in modern days.

Whilst the Luthando Zibeko Foundation has been fortunate to have reliable partners over the years, it however does not give us reason to be complacent but to knuckle hard in chiselling all avenues that are critical to our sustainability and longevity.  Simply put, there is a lot of work to be done.

Members and Friends, Performance of the organisation

Whilst I appreciate the efforts and the numerous successes we can uplift, may I however record my displeasure over our performance in several aspects ofour operations.   In recording such I am certain that this is a feeling that I share with you and I hope to raise such as a red-flag that needs our immediate attention.

  • We are still far behind on the targets that we set during the Strategic Workshop we held in November of 2012
  • We were unsuccessful in raising funds to catapult our organisation into the next level and meet some of our targets
  • Some colleagues have taken their feet off the gas pedal as far as commitment to work of the Foundation is concerned

I thus concede that the previous year has been very difficult, with a lot being expressed, yet with little being achieved.    Regardless of reasons for such misfortune, I am hoping that the AGM will reflect and birth solid resolutions in addressing issues relating to commitment to the cause.

Despite the challenges as mentioned above we can however proudly celebrate the work we have done in the past couple of years:

  • The Clarence Mlokoti Annual Tournament established in 2010 was arguably the biggest amateur tournament in the Eastern Cape that saw eight (8) local municipalities under Chris Hani Municipality competing for the ultimate prize.
  • We have managed to establish sound relationships in particular with University of Pretoria (Tuks) as our development partner. Yolanda Ngqongwa was part of the Tuks development team and we recently had a prospect from Stutterheim coming through for trials.
  • We have in the past eight years supported Leamogetswe Safety Home where we have donated school shoes, playing material, food parcels, funds and seen the likes of former referee and PSL General Manager Ace Ncobo, Itumeleng Khune, Siphiwe Tshabalala, Siyabonga Nkosi and actors, Thami Mngqolo, Zintle Mabena, Mduduzi Gumede, Brenda Ngxoli and many others gracing our annual event.
  • We have managed to establish scouting networks in the Western Cape, Northern Cape and the Eastern Cape and all that is left is to link the scouting networks with the tertiary institutions and teams in those provinces.
  • The Foundation has a website and is also visible on Social Networks and this was coupled by an appointment of Content Manager to ensure both the site and our media platforms are up to date.
  • We were able to launch the Eleven Stars Legacy Project in 2012; a unique project to support the team and the families of those who lost their loved ones in the accident in the same year (2012). Subsequently, the annual Siyabakhumbula Tournament has been launched as part of this initiative.
  • We have been to schools like St. Johns College, Tsomo High to donate playing apparel courtesy of Puma. Playing apparel has also been donated to the likes of Eleven Stars in Stutterheim, the Clarence Mlokoti winners including Leamogetswe Safety Home.
  • The Foundation has developed sound financial systems including legal support and this has brought stability to the organisation. We have to move with speed to ensure that we adopt and implement the financial systems we have developed.
  • We launched our new initiative, Luthando Zibeko Sports & Recreation Festival on Thursday, 18 June 2015 while our #Mandela Day initiative with Leamogetswe Safety Home is growing from strength to strength since our first visit on Saturday, 21 June 2008 an initiative that gave birth to this Foundation.

Dear Members,

The above achieved milestones and many others that will be recorded do tell a story of a dream, a vision, and a mission that finds strength from a deep belief in the generosity of humble human beings that are willing to record and embrace the expression of Franz Fanon mentioned above.

"I believe we have discovered our mission, let us therefore fulfil it and dare not betray it".

As Chairperson of this Foundation, may I categorically state that our work has just begun and as such, the volume of its reason constantly shouts at my ears to soldier on, to do good and to attract noble, willing and unselfish colleagues that are equally driven to put a smile on someone else's face.   I have no doubt that the Luthando Zibeko Foundation is as relevant and responsive to modern-day challenges.

Therefore, like the brevity of the Class of 1976, may we face the future with gusto and determination to strengthen our organization and sustain its contribution.

In demonstration of our growth and determination, may I

Welcome Ms Nokuthula Pumane who takes over from Nelisiwe Golothile as Group Secretary. Ms Pumane who joined us more than a year ago is very excited to have joined us and she will without a doubt strengthen our team.

We are grateful to Ms Golothile who held the reigns with aplomb since she joined us from September 2012. Ms Golothile will not be entirely lost though to the Foundation and I am pleased to announce that she has availed herself to serve in a different capacity.

May I also announce the re-appointment Intergritas as Auditors and I am equally pleased that we received a clean audit report, as you can see in the documents provided to you.

I want to express the Board's appreciation to the Chairman of Finance Committee, Mr Mzoxolo Maki and the Managing Director of Intergritas Mr Luyanda Ndeya for their dedication in pursuing matters of good governance in the overall administration of funds.

The appointment of new law firm

Colleagues,

The last Board Meeting tasked me to identify a law firm that we will be working with us going forward and I am pleased to announce Koikanyang Inc & Attorneys as our new partners.   I would like to thank Mr Odwa Kupiso for making this possible.

Thanks

I would like to take this opportunity to once more thank you and your families for allowing you to share your time with us. I thank you as a Board for willingness to serve and perform your duties in the past year. I would also like to thank those of you who have made themselves available to serve the Foundation's Board going forward.

I would like to further extend a word of gratitude to our partners and sponsors:

  • Mketsu Attorneys
  • Puma South Africa
  • Queens Hotel
  • Tsomo Hotel
  • Chris Hani Municipality
  • South African Football Association (Chris Hani)
  • Cappello (Hartfield Square)
  • University of Pretoria (Tuks)
  • Joburg City Auto
  • Sidas Security

We are also grateful to the Friends of the Luthando Zibeko Foundation, Facebook friends, Twitter followers and ordinary citizens who have continued to support our efforts since we started with this work back in 2008.

Farewell to Mr Maki, Mr Mketsu & Ms Mzamane

I would like to thank Mr Maki, Mr Mketsu & Ms Mzamane, founding members who will not be part of the Board moving forward.

Mr Mketsu's contribution will never be forgotten as he made sure the Foundation was built on solid ground as far as the legalities were concerned. He also raised his hand and offered us office space to ensure that this Foundation has a home at his offices in Hartfield, Pretoria. He has assured me that he will remain a friend to the Foundation and we wish him all the best in his future endeavours.

Ms Mzamene's contribution to the organisation will never be forgotten. I am hoping in the next couple of days I will sit down with Ms Mzamane and see how she can contribute further to the growth of the organisation.

Mr Maki's contribution has been equally immense…I remember back in 2007 on a lazy Sunday, Mr Maki came to my place in Arcardia, Pretoria. He had clothes to donate and it was then that we decided to drive to Atteridgeville looking for a Home. I took the idea forward and here we are today as Luthando Zibeko Foundation under this roof, a place we call home. This was all possible because Mr Maki planted that seed. I thank you Sir, and I wish you all the best in all that you endeavour in life.

Mr Zibeko Sr

I would like to take this opportunity make a special mention and welcome our fellow Board member and my father, Mr Sicelo Zibeko who was attacked by a mild stroke in December 2014. My dad is a courageous fighter and it gives me great pleasure to see him in our midst today.   Once more, I thank GOD for HIS unfailing GRACE and LOVE.

Qhudeni!!!

Condolences

We have lost couple of people since the last time we met and the Foundation would like to pay tribute to few of our heroes who left us during the first half of the year:

Collins Chabane

Steve Kalamazoo Mokone

Richard Henyekane

John Shoes Mosheou

Ruth Mompathi

Ndiyabulela, enkosi!!!

Mamelodi Sundowns lost the second leg by 1-0 but they had done enough at home winning by 3-0 to become the second side in Southern Africa to win the most lucrative prize in African club football. Orlando Pirates were the first team from Southern Africa to win the Champions League back in 1995.

Zibeko Chairman, Luthando Zibeko sent a congratulatory message to the whole Brazilians family and the foundation ambassador Asavela "Shoes" Mbekile.

"Shoes is a beacon of hope for the whole Intsika Municipality. Him winning the medal makes him one of most successful sportsmen from the Eastern Cape. As the Foundation we would like to congrulate Sundowns, President Motsepe and Shoes. We wish them all the best going forward."

Makunga's visit coincided with Mother's day which is widely observed by those who received the full might of their mother's love.

Traditionally, the Chairman and Founder of the Foundation, Luthando Zibeko celebrates his birthday with the home that has provided shelter, clothing and other basic necessities to the homeless and orphaned kids in and around Attridgeville in Pretoria.

Leamokgetswe is now 'home of safety' to 100 orphans.

In the main, the visit sought to look at feasible social investment interventions that Foundation can possible make this year. "The interventions are usually at the centre of the Chairman's  birthday celebrations. They always remind us of why the relationship between the Foundation and Leamokgetswe exist. The success of this annual event is largely dependent on the meaningful contribution that friends of Luthando Zibeko and sponsors continue to make towards a noble cause of helping the needy. We can never thank them enough for their generosity and kindness," Makunga said.

The Foundation's Secretary also spared few minutes of his time to handover small gifts to the beneficiaries of the Leamokgetswe in the spirit of the Mother's Day.

"It crossed my mind that I was going to meet a group of homeless kids, most of whom never had anybody they called Mama. I didn't know what to do except to buy small gifts just to put a smile on their faces. I sincerely hope it made a difference," he concluded.

This year's annual birthday celebrations will be preceded by the Foundation's Annual General Meeting, at the same venue on 18 June 2016.

Banyana thrashed Botswana 3-0on Tuesday night with goals from Sanah Mollo, Mamello Makhabane and Nompulelelo Nyandeni for a 5-0 aggregate score following the 2-0 victory in the first leg.

This is the 10th time in a row that South Africa is represented at the continental championship, and the second time in a row that the ladies qualify for the Olympic Games.

"We would like to congratulate Safa, coach Vera Pauw and the ladies on job well done. There has been significant improvement on Banyana Banyana in the past couple of years and their qualification for both Nations Cup and Olympics proves that the team is on the right track," said Zibeko.

"It's a new dawn for South African rugby and we join the rest of the country in welcoming the new Boks coach. Our calls for more rapid transformation have been heard and the first step towards transforming rugby has been taken by those entrusted to lead the game. We call upon all South Africans to rally behind the team and lets conquer the world once again," said Zibeko.
